Here's a new phrase to go round the internet.  After the success of my sister's use of the word wank as an insult (as in, "Shut up, you wank!", or "What a pile of wank!"), I thought I'd think of my own.  And by "thought I'd think of my own", I mean it randomly came out during a spur of keyboard mashing during a conversation with someone who may leave a comment below saying how good my new phrase is (hint).  So, here it is:

Walling - to have a conversation using the participants' Facebook profile walls, or those of other people.

Those of you using IE7, and possible some other browsers, may notice some things are slighty off.  That's because I've just 'fixed' my CSS file so the site renders properly in the new IE8 (beta 2).  It also looks almost perfect in Firefox 3.0, and Opera 9.5.

In IE7, however, (or, at least according to "IE7 Mode" in the IE8 Beta) the ratings and search box are a bit wonky.  Otherwise there're no noticeable differences.  I would have made a specific CSS section for IE7, but seeing as it's just those bits, I thought there wasn't any point.

Oh, and the gallery has gone.  I had a gallery?  Yes.

Well, my email server was really slow.  It had started to get a bit hot, too.  So, I stripped off all the casing, chucked away all the non-essential parts (CD drive, etc), stuck it between two sheets of perspex/hobby glass, and now it's a digital photo frame!

Recycling at it's best.

The website is now on a new server :).  Here's why:

The old laptop running my email server is pretty much dead (it's next stage in life is a digital photo frame).  So, I now need a new machine to put the email server on.  I tried a virtual machine on the current site server, but it's only just fast enough to run itself, let alone a virtual computer, too.  So, the site has been moved to a different computer, and I'll be putting the email system on to the old web server.  Should work fine...

Meanwhile, I've got some fine-tuning to do so that the site looks nice in IE 8 (and Firefox, and Opera, which I now have).

I just haven't gotten round to adding anything recently.  I've finally sorted out the good pictures/videos from the Paléo Festival last week.  Check them out in the gallery if you're interested.

On the subject of pictures, I started playing around with our new camera.  As you'll see in some of the firework pictures in the Paléo album, I started leaving the shutter open for about 5 seconds to get a blend of 2-3 fireworks.  This worked pretty well, so I moved onto lightning when I saw a storm over the Alps.  They didn't come out too well, but they were a lot better than I thought they would be.  See here.

Meanwhile, only 2 more weeks working full time!  Just as our office gets "expanded", too...
